On Christmas Eve in Australia
A LOCAL Solomon Islander who works as seasonal worker in Griffith, New South Wales, Australia has died on Christmas Eve.
According to a source in Australia, the deceased collapsed when he and his colleague were sitting around a fire warming themselves after a hard day at work.
The deceased was then rushed to the hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival, the source, who is also a seasonal worker, said.
It was reported that earlier during the day, the deceased was out in the farm with his colleagues’ harvesting oranges.
The incident took place in the evening of December 24.
A local who also worked there said it is an absolutely heartbreaking loss for them, the deceased’s family, and friends.
“He is not home with his loved ones during this festive season.
“It is sad that his family are now mourning his loss instead of celebrating the holiday,” his colleague told this paper via Facebook yesterday.
It was reported by friends yesterday that the deceased is being now kept at the same hospital where one local female seasonal worker who died in an accident last week was kept.
