Four Solomon Islands students have graduated with flying colours yesterday, from the I-Shou University in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan.
Moreen John Dusaru, Lima Maedia, Delma Ragoso and Ella Malatugu, graduated with post-baccalaureate degree in Medicine from the University’s School of Medicine for International students.
These students graduated from a four-year M.D. program (taught in English for bachelor’s degree) in compliance with the Taiwan government policy that aims to cultivate passionate and devoted international medical professionals for countries that have a diplomatic relationship with Taiwan.
They are not allowed to conduct medical practice in Taiwan but to return and serve their home country.
So far this is the third batch of Solomon Islands students graduating from the program.
Others, who graduated from the same program previously, are already working at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara.
Congratulating the graduates at I-shou University is the Solomon Islands ambassador to Taiwan, Mr. Joseph Pius Walaenisia and his wife and fellow students and friends in Taiwan.
Providing scholarships and training is one of the commitments Taiwan renders to the Solomon Islands and the students are very thankful for Taiwan through ICDF for providing them the opportunity and support to fulfil their dreams.
The students were happy to successfully complete their studies but said it is the beginning of a new journey in their career.
They are very thankful for the support from family, friends and the people of Taiwan for hospitality and great learning experiences.
