CABINET has extended the current lockdown to 9am tomorrow morning (Sunday 30th January).
Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare made the announcement just after 6.30pm this evening.
Mr Sogavare said the current lockdown for the Honiara Emergency Zone is extended from 6pm this evening Saturday 29th January 2022 to 9am tomorrow morning Sunday 30th January 2022.
“Now, I know I am making this statement after 6pm today and some citizens may have already go out of their homes.
“I ask for your understanding to please return to your homes and remain there until the lockdown is lifted at 9am tomorrow morning,” Mr Sogavare said.
He said this was the decision of the Cabinet after deliberating on the Oversight Committee’s recommendation to consider extending the lockdown of the Honiara Emergency Zone for three additional days.
However, Mr Sogavare said the Cabinet has decided to implement a partial lockdown in the Honiara Emergency Zone to be supplemented with curfew hours.
With regards to the Honiara Emergency Zone, the Prime Minister said from 9am tomorrow (30th January 2022) the Honiara Emergency Zone will remain on hard lockdown until it is revoked.
“No one is allowed to leave the emergency zone and no one is allowed to enter unless exempted,” he said.
The Honiara Emergency Zone is from Poha Bridge to Alligator Creek.
