The Central Provincial Government yesterday accused Metro Logging Company at Pavuvu in Russell Islands of trespassing into state owned land.
Premier Patrick Vasuni yesterday said the logging company has built their access road into the provincial government block.
“One of our provincial officers visited Pavuvu last week and saw that the logging company entered the state owned land illegally,” he said.
“They’ve built an access road into the state owned land which leads to their felling areas,”Vasuni added.
He said the company also failed to pay in full their business licence.
“They only paid $20,000 but it should be $120,000.
“So in our executive meeting sometimes this week, we will decide on that company’s fate,” Vasuni said.
The premier said his executive will work on a provincial act to ban logging activities in the province soon.
