POLICE will be carrying out further investigations into the case of the owner of the Samlimsam logging company and one of the three locals accused of attacking a Renbel Chief at the Kingsley Food bar last year.
Prosecution therefore had to discharged Malaysian Pau Kiu Den and Buddley Fakani of the attempted murder charge against them on Monday in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court.
This is to allow police to do further investigations before the prosecution will assess the evidence and decide on whether to continue or not to continue on their case.
In relation to the remaining accused, Frank Fakani and Ben Alami, prosecution will still proceed with their case.
They will appear again in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on April where a committal hearing is likely to be conducted.
The two men are still facing the charges of attempted murder.
This is for allegedly attacking Poly Tepai at the Kingsley Food Bar on the morning of November 8, last year.
Mr Tepai was having his meal with another Asian and a local when Alami allegedly came from behind and hacked him with a 60 centimetre-long knife.
Prosecution alleged Tepai flew in from his village into Honiara on that morning when he made his way from the airport to Kingsley when he was attacked.
The men then left in a car allegedly driven by Frank.
Tepai nearly lost his left hand but Doctors were however able to save his hand and life.
