POLICE in Renbel are investigating the death of a foreigner whose body was found at Line One, Lavena Camp on Rennell island, Thursday.
Police Acting Operation Manager, Katea Puia says his officers were alerted of a foreigner found dead close to Lavena Logging Camp in West Rennell on Thursday.
“My officers and myself attended and confirmed the person to be a middle aged Indonesian employed by loggers Samlimsun,” Mr Puia said.
“The deceased worked as a chain saw operator for the company,” he added.
“So far the death was not suspicious as the deceased’s body was found under a fallen tree he was cutting.
“I appeal to anyone in West Rennell, especially those living close to where the body was found, or may have travelled past and witness what caused the incident, to come forward and assist with this investigation.”
Mr Puia said an examination finding by a medical doctor of the company revealed the deceased sustained a blunt trauma to his right temple, which possibly caused brain damage and resulted in his death.
He added blood streams were also found down on both nostrils of the deceased.
He said the company is chartering a flight to bring the body over to Honiara.
