MBOKONA and Mbumburu communities in Central Honiara are being urged to be good custodian of their newly fixed wooden bridge.
Acting Honiara City Council (HCC) Lord Mayor and councillor for that particular ward Eddie Ngava highlighted this when handing over the bridge on Monday afternoon.
The wooden bridge was old and residents in the two communities who have been relying on this bridge for their daily transportation were concern about their safety.
Mr Ngava said, he was overwhelmed to see the Mbokona community showing their support towards the upgrading work of the bridge.
“I understand many young people today fail to show respect to community properties which I would like to discourage.
“Therefore I urge all community members residing near this bridge to look after this important infrastructure and take great care of it because it costs money to fix it,” Mr Ngava said when he handed over the bridge to the community on Monday.
He assured them that HCC will continue to support them upgrade some of their infrastructure needs.
