Jimmy Lusibaea has returned to the helm of North Malaita constituency in last Wednesday’s polls.
He won by an overwhelming majority of 1,512 votes after polling 2,430 ballots.
His runner up, Frederick Kwanairara, polled 918 votes.
Lusibaea first won the North Malaita seat in the 2010 elections, but lost it a year later after he was jailed for ethnic tension related crimes.
A by-election held was won by his wife Vika, who held on to the seat until the House dissolved in October this year.
At last Wednesday’s polls, his wife moved and contested the Central Honiara seat, while Lusibaea, who had since served his jail term, returned to reclaim the North Malaita seat.
Ten candidates contested the North Malaita constituency.
