THE Malaita for Democracy (M4D) President Knoxly Atu says issues that he has been vocal about are issues affecting Malaita with the national government and not issues affecting his community.
Speaking exclusively to Solomon Star Auki following a failed Police raid at his home community in East Fataleka to arrest him early yesterday morning, Mr.Atu said none of those issues he raised are his community issues.
“Why attack my village when those issues that I’m vocal about are Malaita issues with the national government and not my community issue.”
The M4D President is of the view that the national government should dialogue with the Malaita Provincial Government and try to solve those issues that M4D has been exposing, rather than trying to use police to silence M4D for speaking up for Malaita people.
The outspoken M4D President said M4D will not be silent when it comes to issues affecting Malaitans and their wellbeing.
He said the government of the day feels irritated when M4D exposes the truth about real issues affecting Malaita and the poor leadership at the national level.
He said the government is part of those issues affecting Malaita today.
He highlighted lack of development as one of the main issues affecting Malaita with no implementation of major projects the government earmarked for Malaita over the years.
He said it’s time that the Prime Minister stops sweeping issues affecting Malaita under the carpet and addresses them through proper dialogue moving forward.
With that, the M4D President said the raid at his home village which traumatizes innocent women and children is uncalled for.
He said police can do better than this through proper dialogue.
The M4D President has hinted that the national government is up for something big and wrong.
“This is the reason why they want to silence M4D from speaking up by trying to get me locked up,” he said.
