THE leader of the Malaita For Democracy and Development (M4DD), Knoxly Atu has dismissed a misleading media report that alleged Simon Mani is an M4D leader.
The leader of M4DD categorically denounced such irresponsible reporting that has no truth in it.
“Simon Mani is an outspoken Malaitan and concern Malaitan.
“He is a leader in his own right and need not to be wrongly label by the media.
“It is clear that the media is running a smear comparing to label concern Malaitan citizens as leaders of various outlawed organisations,” a statement from the group said.
The bastardisation of certain Malaita leaders including Simon Mani is nothing new, it added.
“In fact many Malaitans in the past have always at the forefront of such categorisation.
“The litany of such derogative label on Malaitan has its roots went back as far as the beginning of the nineteenth and twentieth century,” Mr Atu said, in the statement.
Meanwhile, Mr Atu said the police and other investigative and policing agencies of the country should have spent their time well in arresting not only the lower people on the street but also the leaders at the top of the government including the PM.
“The case of the PM is still outstanding and the police is turning a blind eye to it. They instead acted to protect the PM and the big allegations that was made against him,” he said.
The leader of M4DD called on the police to be fair in conducting its policing role and to show and practice caution among the people of Malaita.
