THE immediate former Member of Parliament for East Makira Constituency Seat, Lily Maefai lost her bid for a second term.
Mrs Maefai settled in the third position in the 2024 National General Election last Wednesday after she polled 891 votes.
The winner Derek Franklyn Wasi polled 1,187, while the runner-up Stanley Dick Pirione received 1,050 votes.
Mrs Maefai was first elected into Parliament in a bye-election in 2019 following the death of then newly elected MP and her husband Charles Maefai.
The other candidates Alfred Ghiro polled 885 votes, Jack Martin 746 votes, Aquilla Kirito Karani 714 votes, Frederick Gasa 707 votes, Tehe Carl Lloyd 535 votes, Pasimae John Naksikas 485 votes, Everlyn Kahia 351 votes, John Stephenson Piringisau 349 votes, Frank Waitara 330 votes, Noel Kinika 185 votes, Max Andrew Higa 161 votes, Memesio Haga Kinika 134 votes, Jones Warereau 99 votes, Jimmy Taiwo 10 votes.
Total votes casted 8, 830, number of rejected votes 12 and the total number of registered voters was 10,299.
