Western provincial Deputy Premier Wayne Maepio says that there are proper channels that can be and should be taken when there are complaints against the government.
In an interview he explained that the provincial government is the overall mother body looking after everyone including the provincial executives and any complaints can be channelled through the provincial government.
Hon. Maepio said that with all the words exchanged and how his government has been portrayed in the media, he would like to let it be known that the regular provincial audit is scheduled for next month and says his government is not hiding anything and are looking forward to the audit and its findings.
Speaking on the scrutinized executive meeting held in Honiara, he said there was no such meeting held and that their tour of the capitol was purely for other important matters concerning the Western province, such as the tourism sector and water sourcing and supply in the provincial capital Gizo.
The provincial government is a government body that has to work hand in hand with the national government body, so sitting around in the province is not productive and so the trip to the national capital Honiara was very necessary to see that his governments work be pursued and completed.
He said that to make allegations and say that money is being spent for nothing is groundless and is irresponsible for any government to do so.
Hon. Maepio said that in reality the government has only spent about 30 percent of its overall budget in terms of their performance and can be verified by the people of western province when auditors are finally in Gizo.
He explained that the reason why the public and government official are not able to get documents to verify the accusations made is because such documents are yet to be made available because the right process through auditing has yet to take place, and asks everyone to be patient until the completion of the due process.
Meanwhile Mr. Maepio had personally filed a court case as an individual on the base of defamation.
Maepio said that his character has been tainted through these very public allegations and he is continuously being harassed on the street because of it and has been negatively received by other government colleges and partners.
The deputy premier say he has decided to fall back on the media fight between his executives and concerned parties because of it being a waste of time arguing over baseless accusations, and will wait in due time when he will be able to verify their work.
The Western deputy premier reassures the public that his government is still intact and continues to be in-line with their policies.
