OUTSPOKEN former Honiara City Councillor and activist, Lawrence Makili has insisted that Solomon Islands need a strong and brave Prime Minister, with Manasseh Sogavare the only candidate that has such qualities.
Mr Makili said that it is true both candidates, Sogavare (representing the Democratic Coalition for Change) and Jeremiah Manele (representing the Solomon Islands People’s Democratic Coalition) have the credentials and qualifications required.
However adding that Sogavare, a former two time Prime Minister would be better suited for the top job as he has proved in the past to be the nation’s top politician and a hard nationalist who cannot be swayed or influenced easily.
“Sogavare in my view is the best candidate out of all 50 MP’s for the Prime Minister’s post.
“He has an excellent political background, and has led the nation in the past especially proving to be a nationalist concerned about the sovereignty of Solomon Islands as an independent state.
“And with all due respect to Mr Manele, he is a great candidate however in my view can be easily swayed, influenced, like a puppet by other powerful MP’s within the SIPDC camp.
“Therefore Sogavare should be the nation’s PM come next Tuesday,” Mr Makili said.
