Makira police is proposing an awareness program for communities surrounding the Kirakira station and part of the province.
Makira provincial police commander Richard Hane revealed this in an interview, Wednesday.
He said his officers will undergo training and awareness program with the communities based on violence, abuse and basic traffic rules for drivers in the capital.
The awareness is aimed at educating the communities and drivers the basic traffic rules how to tackle crime related activities.
“There is a need for police to provide awareness to the young people especially in the rural areas to know the activities that related to crime,” Mr Hane said.
He said based on experience most crimes in the province is related to marijuana and alcohol.
“People in Makira need to know the bad things about marijuana and alcohol because it leads to abuse and violence in the community,” Hane said.
