A mini-trade fair was successfully hosted last week at ward 9 in the Makira Ulawa province.
The week long event closed last Thursday with a number of presentations, speeches and parade.
The president of ward 9 and the chair lady of the event Jessica Ngere acknowledged the sponsors and participating women at the closing.
“I hope that you have learned a lot during this event.”
She said despite a lot of challenges, the event has concluded well.
She also thanked the outgoing Member of Parliament Hypolite Taramae for his support, the National Council of Women, the provincial government, Our Telekom for mobile phone donations and World Vision for T-Shirts donations.

She said that ever since the council’s formation nothing has been done due to lack of provincial support through the provision of budget allocation and funds.
Kirakira Telecom office has been a participating company during the show and the manager Ms Edith Hanuagi in her speech thanked ward 9 for hosting the event and working in partnership with various organisations.
She encouraged the women that they are gifted and that they can do something. “It is not a matter of differentiating our level of education, our cooperation does matter and you can do some thing to stand together and fight our rights in our provincial level.”
Many activities were held such as cooking demonstration, floral competition, awareness, immunization and entertainments.
Among of them ware the police from Kirakira, the World Vision and the Kirakira hospital who helped out in the measles vaccination.
The floral competition was won by a male participants which got everyone surprised how talented some of the men were.
