MALAITA Provincial Council of Women (MPCW) kick started its Annual General Meeting in Auki Malaita Province Wednesday this week.
Solomon Star correspondent in Auki township, William Ekotani said participants came from communities.in and Around Malaita Province.
He said the three-day annual general meeting will end today.
Mr.Ekotani said, participants discussed issues concerning the work of Malaita council of women and its visionary plans for future development as a way forward.
The organization is due to elect its new office bearers today Friday August 21st.
Speaking at the official opening of the meeting held at the MPCW Building, President of the Solomon Island National Council of Women Ella Kauhue said, one of the main challenges women in Solomon Islands faced today is the difficulty of supporting each other.
Ms Kauhue pointed out that this problem is made difficult by the very fact that we live a life of diverse culture dictated under different environment.
She said because of that women live a life dictated by their respective cultures which in one way or another determines what their important priorities are.
“But Ms Kauhue reminded participants that whatever circumstances are in any given situation the important aspect is that of Malaita women helping and supporting each other.
