A IUMI Play football league for Under 12 and 14 boys and girls for Malaita Province is scheduled to start next month.
Malaita Province sports youth development officer, Danny Belo said six centres will be participating in the Iumi Play League, they are Koa in West Kwara’ae, Aimela in Central Kwara’ae, Auki, Ambu, Alota and Town End Primary School.
Belo urged the Iumi Play centre managers and coaches to prepare their teams, meet the requirements and provide birth certificates of players to avoid any delay and disturbance ahead of the league.
A meeting between Belo, Iumi Play Centre managers and coaches was held on Wednesday at Aligegeo Stadium to finalize preparations for the league.
The meeting discussed game formats and the actual date for the league to start.
The Iumi Play is a programme targeting children from ages 7 to 12 at the grassroots level of the game within the 50 constituencies in Solomon Islands to train young players on structured footballing to develop the game in the provinces and the country.
