Newly formed Malaita Provincial Assembly executive will review the government’s draft policy this week.
The policy containing 39 pages is currently in its draft form.
Premier Peter Ramohia said the executive will meet tomorrow and Friday this week to screen the draft and make changes if necessary.
“Members will be given the chance to look through the draft and make amendments if necessary after which, the final copy will be launched and distributed.
He said the police framework reflects the desire to move the province forward in terms of providing necessary services and pushing developments forward.
“This is a policy which will direct our province to achieve its short and long term goals.”
He said the policy is set to align with the national policies of the DCC government.
“Agriculture and Fisheries will be the key drivers to boost the economical activities.”
The three engaged to edit the policy framework are Genesis Kofana (Communications & Development Studies), Martin Housana (Commerce & Tourism) and Jackson Gege (Political science & International Development).
Policy team leader Jackson Gege said work on drafting the policy is quite challenging however the progress is excellent.
“It outlines the goals, objectives and strategic focus for the province.
“After its launching, it will then be translated into activity plans and inserted into budgetary mechanism of the provincial ministries for implementation.”
They are anticipating the launching to take place early next month.
The premier this week met with the Prime Minister to discuss priority issues of Malaita.
