A DELEGATION from the Malaita Provincial Government led by Premier Peter Channel Ramohia visited South Malaita over the past two weeks.
The delegation included Mrs Premier Susan Ramohia, Provincial Minister for Finance and Administration Joe Heroáu for ward 25 and security officer David Su’umani.
The delegation visited Uhu and Tawairoi communities from 9th May and returned on Monday18th of May.
Speaking to this paper in Auki Premier Ramohia said, the visit was the first for him since becoming a Premier.
He said, during the visit, his team had consultation with the communities, Church leaders, youth leaders and chiefs about development plans for the province.
“The meetings were to inform the communities of how the Malaita Alliance for Reform & Transformation (MART) Government works closely with the DCC Government.
“The visit is also to work closely with the communities and to get the views, feedbacks and their plan towards the development of Malaita province.”
He said, he was pleased to meet with community leaders, organic famers, bee farmers, coconut virgin oil productions and piggery farmers.
He said, “its very important for all Malaita provincial members to work closely with the communities rather than talking about politics.
Similar visits are expected for other wards later this year.
During the visit, the communities were very happy because they don’t expect the Premier to visit them.
