THE Malaita Premier Peter Chanel Ramohia says that preparation for the Malaita day is going on smoothly.
In an interview on Tuesday, he said that committees to look after various activities during the day are already in place.
He said, that they have agreed that this second appointed day will fall on Friday 14 instead of 15th August which is on Saturday.
“This is because Saturday is Sabbath for some our citizens and we want them to be part of the day as this is for all Malaitans,” the premier revealed.
Mr Ramohia stated that this is a special day for the province to remember how it gets its power as a province.
He told this paper that invitation letters have been issued already for Prime Minister Manasseh Sogavare, Premier of Guadalcanal province and others to attend the celebration.
He hopes this day will be a successful one for everyone.
In leading up to the day are some sporting activities will be staged.
