THE Malaita provincial government has welcomed the move by Solomon Water to upgrade the Auki water supply.
Deputy Provincial Secretary Robert Wales stated this on behalf of Malaita provincial government during a stakeholders’ meeting organized by Solomon Water on Tuesday in Auki.
The upgrading of Auki water supply project will see new water pipes, bore holes and storage tanks being constructed.
Mr Wale during his presentation said the project once completed will meet the demand for water in the expanding provincial capital.
He assured all those present, the Malaita provincial government is fully supportive of the project and will continue to work closely with Solomon Water to address the need of increasing water demand in Auki.
The consultation ended with a site visit to a number of sites where some of the infrastructures will be built.
A team from Solomon Water from Honiara is in Auki this week for the consultation talks.
Stakeholders that attended the consultation yesterday included the Malaita provincial council of women, Police, Solomon Power, Our Telecom, Auki Land office and others.
