MALAITA’s provincial chief education officer (CEO) Titus Fika has resigned after 11 years of service.
Mr Fika tendered in his resignation after making his intentions clear of wanting to run for the West Kwaio Constituency in the upcoming national general elections.
In a dinner hosted for Mr Fika by the provincial education office over the weekend, Mr Fika’s colleagues had nothing but praise to the man many described as a true educationist and leader.
“Titus has served the province well the past 11 years, heading all four regional education authorities, helping develop the level of education throughout the entire province.
“He has also helped implemented both national and provincial education policies which has helped developed the level of education both offered and acquired on Malaita,” were some remarks said by Mr Fika to this paper.
Meanwhile in the light of Fika’s resignation, Richard Hausitao has been appointed as caretaker CEO of the province.
