PETER Channel Ramohia is the new premier of Malaita Province.
He was elected ahead of his only rival Rev. Michael Maeliau – polling 20 votes to Rev. Maelua’s 12 in the 32-seat Provincial Assembly.
In his victory speech, Mr Ramohia thanked his colleagues who supported him for the new job and for putting their trust in him.
He said he will finalise his executive within the next seven days.
Mr Ramohia, who won the recent provincial election for ward 24 in West Are’Are, is a former top fisheries official.
