A TWO-DAY Malaita Sons and Daughters Forum is currently underway at Hotel Malaita in Auki, Malaita province.
More than 200 people which consisting of chiefs, church leaders, men, women, and youths from different parts of Malaita are attending the forum.
The theme of the forum is “Our Future Malaita.”
The meeting focuses on the establishment and definition of Malaita For democracy (M4D), Malaita Democracy, challenges of Malaita, New Direction and Resolution of our future Malaita, and reconciliation.
According to observation, yesterday’s speakers highlighted the need for Malaita to adopt a new government system that can serve the interest of the people well.
Speaking to Solomon Star Auki, President of M4D Knoxly Atu who led the forum said the Forum is organized purposely to invite Malaitans to come forward to express and share their concerns so that the government implements what the people of Malaita desires.
“This forum invites people in Malaita to share their views on how and what the government needs to address, according to the interest of all Malaitans,” Mr. Atu said.
He said the committee will be formed and meet after the forum to make a resolution which will be summited to the MARA government and to the National government.
The Forum continues today and will end later this afternoon.
