THE Malaita Education Authority is still to distribute the Home Learning booklets to schools in Malaita Province.
A few schools in the province said they are yet to receive these booklets.
The Ministry of Education Human Resource Development (MEHRD) had produced the Home Learning booklets in 2020 with assistance from Australia and New Zealand under the Education Sector Support Program (ESSP).
In a recent statement the MEHRD said education authorities are distributing the booklets to the families of early childhood, primary and secondary school students to enable children to continue learning at home while schools throughout the country are closed due to the COVID outbreak.
As part of the Australia Government’s COVID response support to the Solomon Island, Australia has provide sea and air transport for 841 cartons of 42,971 Home learning Booklets to provincial Education Authorities in Western, Makira, Malaita, Choiseul, and Renbel Provinces. COVID- safe measures were in place for the deliveries.
The home of learning materials were distributed in 2021 to schools located in the emergency zone, namely western, Choiseul, Honiara, Guadalcanal and Malaita outer Islands.
However, the teachers in Malaita said no such distribution has happened in the province.
Therefore, they urged the MEHRD to state when these booklets will be made available in Malaita to be distributed to school children.
