Teachers in Training (TNT) in Malaita say they are yet to be paid by the government since January this year.
And they urged the Ministry of Education and Human Resources to explain why their salaries have not been paid.
Spokesman Albert Donga said they have been living on debt for the last three months and were suffering with their families as their only means of accessing cash was denied.
The teacher from Gwaigeo primary school said they have been denied payment for five to six fortnights and they want an explanation.
Donga claimed about 500 teachers are affected.
Meanwhile, Ministry of Education and Human Resources Development (MEHRD) said they have already submitted the names to the Ministry of Finance and Treasury (MoFT).
“The situation is now with the Ministry of Finance,” a spokesman said.
Calls made to the Ministry of Finance have not been answered.
