Teachers in Malaita are still waiting for their postings this year.
That was because the Malaita Education Authority is yet to release the teachers posting list for this year.
And teachers who called into Auki last Friday to enquire about the new postings say the delay will affect the start of 2016 academic year.
“Schools are scheduled to start on Monday, but the Education Authority is yet to release the new postings,” one teacher told the Sunday Star.
“This is unacceptable,” he added.
He said registration and orientation that are supposed to start next week are definitely going to be delayed.
“By this time, teachers should be already at their schools preparing for the new academic year.
“But as you can see, we are still wondering which schools we are going to serve this year.”
He said according to teachers hand book “teachers must arrive one week in advance at their schools before the academic year starts”.
They questioned why the Malaita Education Authority has not released the new postings.
“What is the authority doing all these time? They should be doing their job.”
Comments are being sought from the authority.
