MALAITA currently leads Pool A of the Mariner Beach Soccer National Championship with six points following their second consecutive win at the DC Park, Monday.
The match was a thriller as Malaita came from two goals down in the first period and regrouped in the final periods to defeat Guadalcanal Kilikili 6-3.
Thompson Peter scored a hat trick along with a goal each by Funusui Iro, Bobby Albert and Max Fa’ari to help the defending champions go top of their group.
Guadalcanal Kilikili’s goals were scored by Michael Chiki with two goals and the third by Adrian Mara.
Kilikili now sits at the second spot also with six points but with a point short in goal difference to that of Malaita.
Yesterday’s second saw Central Islands registered their first win of the Mariner Beach Soccer Championship edging out Choiseul 6-4.
In pool B, Western Kiokio has one foot in the semi-finals after registering their second win, a 5-1 victory against Temotu.
The third match saw Isabel registering their first and a crucial 5-4 win against Makira Ulawa.
Isabel sits at the third spot while Makira Ulawa Sharks is on the second spot, both with three points.
