THE Malaita Provincial Government wants to see the national government committed to establishing a multi-law enforcement border outpost in the Malaita Outer Islands (MOI), says Premier Daniel Suidani.
This is to protect the country against illegal and unregulated fishing, illegal migration and threats of transnational organised crime.
Premier Suidani highlighted this during the Immigration Act review in Auki this week.
He said the Malaita Outer Islands region of Malaita shares a border with the Papua New Guinea’s (PNG’s) Autonomous Region of Bougainville and it is the wish of the people of Malaita to see the national government committed to establishing a multi-law enforcement border outpost MOI.
“Malaita and its people share a traditional border with the Independent state of Papua New Guinea’s Tasman Islands at the Malaita Outer Islands.
“Malaita Provincial Government wants to see the national government committed to establish multi-law enforcement border outposts in the Malaita Outer Islands to protect the country against illegal unregulated fishing, illegal migration and threats of transnational organised crimes.”
