Women who are part of the weeklong Safeguarding workshop in Auki, Malaita Province honoured the 2023 Mother’s Day with words of encouragement.
Over 30 women presidents representing the 33 Ward Council of Women in Malaita took time to honour Mother’s Day, engaging in an activity designed for participants to wish each other heart-warming words.
One of the Workshop facilitators, Oxfam representative Ella Wairiu, on Thursday organized participants to pick a friend and prepare a brief speech about whoever they picked.
On Friday evening, women presidents, facilitators, and male participants staged a brief event which was full of fun, laughter, and emotion as each of the participants took time to describe their friend with some of the sweetest words one could ever hear on a Mother’s Day.
Male support participants who are part of the event added more flavour with their words of encouragement to mothers to keep on striving.
The event ended with the cutting of a cake. Mothers who attended the event thanked Oxfam and MPCW for organizing the event to honour mothers, which saw mothers coming together under one roof to commemorate 2023 Mother’s Day.
