THE Malaita Provincial Assembly will begin its full assembly following the recent election of the Fini-Government meeting next week.
The Assembly meeting was initially scheduled to commence yesterday but was postponed for next Wednesday.
According to a notice issued by the office of the Malaita Provincial Assembly Speaker, the full assembly meeting is urgent to deliberate and pass the 2023 revised Budget before 31 March 2023.
It stated that the meeting was requested by the Premier and his Executive.
“As advised by the Attorney General and in pursuant to Standing Order 58 and 60, notice is hereby given to the public that the full assembly meeting scheduled for Wednesday 2nd March has been post pond to Wednesday 8th March 2023 at 9 am.
“The full Assembly meeting is urgent to discuss and pass the 2023 revised budget before the 31st of March 2023,” the notice stated
The notice added that all Members of the Provincial Assembly will be notified accordingly of the meeting.
Solomon Star Auki understands that the Malaita Provincial Public Accounts Committee which consists of four elected Members of the Assembly and a Secretary had already met and scrutinised the revised budget last week.
