OWNER of the AJ Shopping Mall in Lunga, East Honiara is appealing to the general public especially those who usually drive or walk past his building to show some respect.
Aaron Zheng told the paper yesterday, the building is yet to be completed but he notices some people have thrown rocks several times causing damages to its new glass walls.
Mr. Zheng said just recently, several stones were thrown and two of the glass walls got cracked.
He said over the past weeks, several stone marks were also seen on the walls and some of the walls have collapsed.
“Now I have almost six walls that got damages including the latest two last night,” he said.
He said those wall classes are very expensive and almost cost him around $10,000 each especially the doubled class wall placed at the front wall.
Mr. Zheng said the stoning of the building usually happens at night and he could not know who does the shooting.
“I have few of my boys stationed at the building site at night but they also don’t know who actually did the shootings,” he said.
Zheng said from what he heard, even those passing by in vehicles also threw stones at the building.
He said the type of mindset needs to change especially as such practice will not do any good for the country.
He then urges those responsible to stop such practice but see such as development in the city and for the country.
Zheng said he also wants to help the city with something different and not the normal types of buildings seen in Honiara.
“I also tried my best to help our city by putting up something different and not the normal familiar types of building (box shape) we normally see in Honiara, so please do respect the building,” he said.
He said once it completes it will provide employment for many as well as available space for businesses and will also ease traveling especially those living in the eastern end of Honiara.
Mr. Cheng said services like commercial bank/ATMs will be provided so as private bars, restaurants, food court, gym & indoor fitness exercise.
The paper understands the mall will also provide spaces for commercial shops, supermarket, shopping mall, office spaces, hotel apartment accommodation, clinic, and cinema.
