Solomon Islands national U19 team has registered their first win of the Oceania U20 Championship by defeating American Samoa 5-0 yesterday.
The win gave them four points from four matches played.
Two first half goals and three in the second half was enough for the Mamulas to bring back some pride after they failed to win their two opening games.
Atkin Kaua scored a double one in each half making it his third of the tournament, while Timothy Bakale, Kevin Obed and Jared Rongosulia had their share of the pie with a goal each to help for their first win.
Despite the win the Mamulas has no chances of finishing top of the competition which also serves as the Oceania U20 World Cup Qualifiers.
Meanwhile the Mamulas will be playing their final match tomorrow Saturday May 31 against the hosts Fiji.
This might not be very important for the Mamulas in terms of fighting for the top spot but it is for Fiji who are hoping despite their unbeaten run to avoid any defeat or draw which could jeopardize their chances of finishing top.
In other matches yesterday Fiji and Vanuatu drew 2-2. In the final match last night between New Caledonia beat Papua New Guinea, 5-1.
