A 62-YEAR-OLD man yesterday confessed he beat his wife with a wood, resulting in her receiving a broken arm last year in Guadalcanal.
George Uvi entered the guilty plea to one count of grievous harm before Principal Magistrate Augustine Aulanga.
Mitigation and sentencing submissions on his case will be made tomorrow.
He assaulted his wife after she did not do what he asked her to do.
The court heard he instructed his wife not to make a fire where she started it but to move elsewhere.
However, when she did not do what she was instructed to do, Uvi became angry and assaulted her with a wood, which landed on her left hand.
She received a broken arm due to the assault but did not report the matter to the police.
On 3 December 2014 the victim went to visit her relatives without Uvi.
Uvi then later start asking her of her whereabouts that night and when the victim questioned him if he was jealous, Uvi took a tree branch and whipped her with it.
It was this time that the victim reported the matter to the police.
Chris Rarumae of Public Prosecutions is representing Uvi while Police Prosecutor Tebakota Iete appeared for the State.
