A MAN is dead and another in a critical condition following a motor accident at the GPPOL 2 area in east Guadalcanal on Wednesday.
Guadalcanal police, who attended the incident, alleges the accident was alcohol related.
Information received by Tetere Police say the incident, involving a car with three people inside, occurred at GPPOL 2 palm oil plantation block 8.
“The vehicle is believed to have hit a palm tree resulting in the death of one of the passengers,” police said in a statement.
“The driver of vehicle is in a critical condition and is admitted at the National Referral Hospital in Honiara. The third person escaped injuries,” the statement added.
“Police strongly warn people not to drive while under the influence of liquor and to take all necessary precautions while driving to prevent such accidents happening.”
