THE dead man found floating in the Mataniko River recently may have died from a medical condition.
Police Commissioner Matthew Varley said police have worked with the family of the deceased who indicated that the deceased has a medical condition which may have contributed to his untimely death.
“At this point in time there are no suspicious circumstances surrounding his death.
“The examination of his body found no injuries that would cause death.
“The family are satisfied with that outcome but of course, we will refer the final report to the coroner as a standard practice,” Mr Varley said.
“There is no suggestion of this case of suspicious circumstances.”
Mr Varley confirmed that the deceased was 21-year-old Robert Saeni Makabo from Malaita Province.
Mr Varley said the body of the deceased had been returned to the family and a funeral service had already been conducted.
