AUKI police have retrieved the body of a man believed to have drowned after falling into the sea at Auki wharf, Malaita Province, Tuesday night.
Police said the man in his 30’s was believed to have fallen asleep as he was sitting at the rail edge of the wharf while waiting for the arrival of a ship from Honiara and accidently fell into the sea.
Police said the man was believed to be under the influence of liquor when the incident occurred.
Auki police said while no foul play is suspected, police are investigating the incident.
