A YOUNG man has been remanded in custody on Tuesday afternoon for allegedly cutting his brother in-law with a knife.
Selwyn Namu, 28 of Guadalcanal is facing one count of attempted murder.
The alleged incident occurred on January 4, 2015 at Nangali village at East Guadalcanal, where Namu allegedly used two bush knives to slash David Rofeta’s shoulder.
The alleged victim, a 36 year-old man from Malaita was standing in his kitchen house when Namu allegedly approached him and stabbed him.
He is currently admitted at the National Referral Hospital. Namu was allegedly under the influence of liquor and armed with two bush knives during incident.
Police alleged Namu acted in a disorderly manner during the day before the incident.He swore at children, slapped a woman and threatened her.
It was alleged Rofeta had earlier tried to calm Namu down and later went in the kitchen house when Namu approached him and slashed him with the bush knives.
Namu allegedly slashed the knife at Rofeta’s face and left upper arm and when Rofeta was on the ground, he aimed the knife at his neck.
The alleged victim used his left hand to defence himself and received a deep open cut on his shoulder.
Namu will appear in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court on January 27.
