A young man in his mid-twenties is slowly recovering at Gizo hospital after he was stabbed three times on the back on Monday with a small pocket knife in the Gizo, Western province.
The victim is from Lale village in Rannoggah Island.
Reports reaching Solomon Star Gizo said that the stabbing incident happened at around 3pm in the afternoon right opposite the Gizo post office beside the main road.
The incident happened in broad daylight and was witnessed by the public who were busy with their shopping.
The suspect is a Gilbert man in his forties. It was alleged that he was angry with the victim over past issues and when he saw the victim he followed him and stabbed which left the victim with serious wounds.
Several eye witnesses said the victim was on his way towards the Gizo market carrying his plastic goods when the suspect stabbed him.
“The young boy dropped on the ground with blood coming out from his body, however he quickly got up on his feet and tried to escape from his attacker as the suspect wanted to attack him for the second time,” one eyewitness said.
Several eyewitnesses seeing what had happened quickly assisted the young to the Gizo Hospital for treatment.
The victim is now recovering at the Gizo hospital.
Gizo police are now hunting for the suspect.
