THE fifth edition of the Fletcher Man Up Rugby Challenge kicked off in Honiara over the weekend at the Town ground rugby stadium.
Three matches were played for the first weekend of the competition.
Diesel, Islanders, and Crusaders made positive starts to their campaign with wins against their rivals.
The opening match saw Diesel defeated MOI Warriors 16-0 to secure initial points of the Man Up Challenge.
The only provincial side, Malaita Crusaders made their winning introduction with a 29-13 win over one of the tournament’s favourite SOSA.
The final match on Saturday was the most highlighted match featuring host Henderson Hammerheads (HHH) and Islanders.
Despite some issues of discipline during the match, it ended well with Islanders coming from behind to defeat HHH 20-15.
Matches will continue this weekend with another three matches.
