A man accused of hurling an ignited dynamite explosive at another man at Fox Wood area in East Guadalcanal in 2012, will be standing trial today in the High Court.
Mariano Besa is facing one count of attempted murder and another of criminal trespass.
His trial was listed to start on Monday but was however adjourned to today to allow the prosecution to visit the crime scene.
Police alleged on the night of July 1, 2012, Besa went to the complainant’s house and called out to another person residing with the complainant.
It was alleged that the victim’s wife who heard Besa calling went to alert the complainant.
It was recorded that the complainant came out of his house and chased Besa out of his compound.
He then allegedly followed Besa out of his property where Besa turned and threw the lit dynamite explosive at him.
The court heard that the complainant fell unconscious when the dynamite exploded.
The complainant reportedly sustained injuries to his face and the front section of his body.
Henry Kausimae of Public Solicitor’s Office is representing Besa while the Director of Public Prosecutions Ronald Bei Talasasa and Crown Prosecutor Willy Vaiyu represents the State.
