A man has been fined $400 yesterday in the Honiara Magistrates’ Court after pleading guilty to assaulting his wife.
Fred Foster yesterday appeared before Magistrate Augustine Aulanga and entered a guilty plea to one count of common assault.
The court heard he assaulted his wife following an argument with her on the evening of 18 May 2015 at their Lengakiki home.
Foster was told he should respect his wife and not assaulted her.
He was told he has breached his trust as a husband who should care for his wife but instead assaulted her.
Meanwhile in relation to another separate assault case, Rosina Koraua was also fined a total of $500 for a common assault charge and another charge of using abusive words.
She pleaded guilty to the offences that occurred on 15 April 2015 at the Town Ground flat area, West Honiara.
Ms Koraua slapped the victim after she made a joke to her and then swore at her.
Mr Aulanga imposed a fine of $400 for the assault charge and $100 for the using abusive words charge.
Both accused have until 7 September to pay up the fine or else they will be serving 20 days in prison.
