PARLIAMENT was adjourned last Friday until Monday the 10th of June to allow the Manele & Tovosia-led Government of National Unity and Transformation (GNUT) to complete its Coalition Policy Statement and Policy Translation Document.
This was announced in Parliament by Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele when moving a special motion last Friday to adjourn Parliament until Monday the 10th of June.
The reasons he cited for the special adjournment motion was to give ample time for his government to settle into office and develop its policy legislative agenda and also for each and every constituency to set its constituency office.
“I have appointed all Cabinet Ministers and the Ministers had already been briefed by their respective Ministries.
“I have also appointed a Policy Team that is now working to complete our 100-days policies as well as the translation of these policies and priorities for the next four years.
“We look forward to completing these policies and translating them into implementation strategies in the coming week. Hence, the special adjournment will also give my government GNUT time to further develop and refine our policy framework for the 12th Parliament.
“I guess the 50 Members of Parliament will also need time to set up their respective constituency offices.”
The adjournment followed the swearing-in of the Members of the 12th Parliament and the declaration of the Speaker and Deputy Speaker of Parliament who stood unopposed for these positions.
