MANY homes and schools in West Honiara are without running water for over five days now.
Since late last week, many homes from Rove down to White River have been facing acute water shortage.
Speaking to this paper in an interview yesterday an elder from Rifle Range community Peter Tamana said whole of the areain Rifle Range were without water since the weekend.
He said the situation gets worse for many families when their water tanks and streams have ran out due to dry spell.
“It’s a big problem affecting many families in West Honiara,” he said.
Apart from the homes, a number of schools in West Honiara have also been affected by the lack of water supply. Since Monday a number of schools like Tamlan, Kaylyn and White River have suspended classes until further notice.
Unconfirmed report reaching the Solomon Star yesterday stated the problem was a caused by damage to oneof Solomon Water’s main gravity line at the White River area.
Solomon Water information officer Carlos Saliga said they are yet to confirm the really problem that caused water shortage in parts of West Honiara.
This week their operation team took the time to attend the scene but yet to confirm the real cause of the problem.
