DESPITE many criticisms against the SIPA rice and noodle, many families living in the rural areas in and around the country have enjoyed its availability and continuous supply in the city.
Most are from the low wages and salary earners living in the outskirts of the capital, Honiara.
Lately, residents of Gilbert Camp, East Honiara have supported SIPA’s intention to move into the commercial activities, saying it comes as no mistake to them.
Speaking to the Solomon Star, a senior residence Placid Alegao said the SIPA rice and noodle supplies have created easy and low spending for many of low income earners living in the area.
“Despite the many criticisms in the public and the media against SIPA going into the rice and noodle business, those of us in the low income level of the country have welcomed the great news.
“We survived with little income from our work and we are really enjoying the purchase of the SIPA products, with its reasonable costings,” Mr Alegao said.
He said there is nothing wrong consuming the rice and noodle because there is nothing bad being discovered in the products but a God given food stuffs.
“There is nothing wrong with the rice and noodle.
“If you think that the rice or noodle is bad, one day the giver of food and life (GOD) will punish you.
“We should treat such food as what comes from heaven and stop the critics,” he said.
Reports reaching Solomon Star also confirmed that, most people in the rural areas are the ones heavily buying the SIPA products. It was understood that, the aim of the sale of the products was to target rural dwellers and low income earners in the country.
