A PARENT from Maoro village, central Kwara’ae said parents whose children are attending Maoro Community High School want to see qualified teachers posted to the school.
Outspoken Maoro elder Steven Donald said numerous complaints filtered in after the list of teachers allocated for Maoro was posted.
“We found out that a good number of those posted to our school are not qualified. We know the school board has accepted some teachers who only attended bible schools without achieving proper qualifications.
“Parents have been complaining after seeing the list. Maoro is not a bible school.”
The school is being run by the South Seas Evangelical Church (SSES)
Mr Donald said although the school is being run and owned by the SSEC church, the Ministry of Education should be responsible in ensuring qualified teachers are in the teaching service.
He called on responsible authorities to look into the issue and make changes to the list.
The list of teachers’ postings in the province will be put out on the Education office notice board in Auki this week.
