The Honiara-based Maranatha Children____s Ministry of the Seventh Day Adventists Church is currently on a week long outreach program to Auki, Malaita province.
The children ministry which consisted mainly of children of aged between 11-18 is currently doing their children ministry outreach program helping various communities including a clinic and Kilu’ufi hospital in the province.
Speaking to Solomon Star in Auki, team leader Vaisa Kama said the Maranatha Children____s Ministry is very happy to visit Malaita this year to share God’s word with the people of Malaita province.
“If God can use adults, God can also use children and today God is using these children to speak to children and also adults,” she said.
She said the outreach program not only covers spiritual side but it also covers physical side because they involve the children in community service.
On Tuesday the kids also helped with community service where they cleaned up and planted flowers around Gounawa clinic in West Kwara’ae, she said.
“This community service is usually done by our women’s group but this year the children ministry is happy to carry out the community service in Malaita,” she added.
Today they will run a workshop at Buma community in West Kwara’ae which will cover floral art, printing of lap-lap and first Aid health training for the community.
“The first Aid training will be run by a nurse within our group and we hope knowledge gain from this workshop will help the community when there are no nurses or medical doctors around to help.
“We learn that health is a very import aspect of human life and that needs improvement especially in the rural area and Buma community for sure will be greatly benefit from this first Aid training,” she added.
Apart from the the community program and the hospital and clinic visitation, the Maranatha Children____s Ministry will also visit the Auki Correctional Center to share with the prisoners before returning to Honiara next Tuesday.
The children usually worship each Sabbath at the Maranatha Hall, Lunga, East Honiara.
