On the east coast of Guadalcanal lies Marau Sound, a sub-station of the province and an emerging tourism hub.
In 2012 the media attention was focused in this area as it hosted the Royal couple, Prince William and Princess Kate at the famous Tavanipupu Resort.

Marau Comfort Lodge is one of them which started off in 2013 and is located in the heart of Marau Sub-Station, a sort of administrative centre.
