THE ‘March for Justice’ for young Mary which was scheduled to take place yesterday in Honiara has been rescheduled for today.
Yesterday’s heavy down pour has forced the cancelation of the event, a spokeswoman who is part of the organising committee said.
“Due to the weather today (yesterday), the march has been postponed and is rescheduled,” she added.
For today, the event will happen around the same time.
However, if the bad weather continues today, only the vigil ceremony will take place at SIM, 5pm.
As announced earlier, the parade will commence at Honiara City Council (HCC) car park to SMI, Town ground.
The parade is expected to be attended by women organisations, youths, civil groups and others.
This is to say NO to rape and sexual violence and at the same time show support for justice for late Mary was allegedly rape and brutally murdered in Kolombangara, Western Province last month.
A number of activities including drama, poem, message from the family representatives, Public Outcry on Rape Culture and candle lighting will be the main highlights.
