Marist Futsal club departed yesterday to participate at the JF International futsal championship in Australia.
The team comprised of 13 players, three team officials and is led by coach Jerry Sam.
According to head coach, Juliano Schmeling the team has been preparing well and aims for a good run in this competition.
Schmeling did not travel with the team since he is till engaged with the Marist football team who will play their final match tomorrow.
Equipped with a mixture of young and experienced players, the likes Elliot Ragomo, Robert Laua and Alvin Hou to name a few, Marist futsal team is highly likely to be a strong contender in the competition.
Organizers of the competition are aware of the competitiveness of futsal teams from Solomon Islands and are excited to have a team from the Solomons to take part in this tournament.
The Inaugural Tournament in 2015 was won by KuruKuru in preparation for the 2016 OFC Futsal World Cup Qualifiers in Fiji.
The 2016 International Cup will take place on the December 16 at Goonelabah Sports and Aquatic Centre NSW, Australia.
The JF International Cup is Just Futsal elite Futsal Competition with teams from overseas and all over Australia coming to compete for the grand prize.
